MOLONGLO RIVER FLOOD 2010


The Molonglo River has burst its banks with the heaviest flooding since the 1970's. Parts of neighboring Queanbeyan and Captain's Flat are currently underwater. The Queanbeyan and Molonglo Rivers feed Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin and four floodgates have been opened up at Scrivener Dam  (no access) and it is planned to open the fifth gate this afternoon. This will be the first time this has happened since 1976. These images are from a distance below the dam from the parkway...
