This video from From ABC News only recently came to my attention.

A review of Canberra's heritage laws show that there is a lack of understanding by the community and ACT Government regarding the preservation of historical sites and came up with 100 recommendations for change. .
"The Government and the Community show a lack of understanding of the Capital's heritage"
